digital scrapbooking

okay, when i first heard about digital scrapbooking i was like…”nope, no way”…primarily because i had this preconceived notion of what the end result would be…a book type photo album which just, at least to me, did not feel like a “real album”. recently however, i have become a little more educated on the topic and realized that there are different options to the end result of digital scrapbooking. since i still wanted to use the traditional scrapbook, i found that there were places that could print a 12×12 digital page that you could simply insert into a traditional album. i would be able to design the scrapbook page but would have the option of having 12×12 pages printed instead of having it come in a photo book format.

the main difference — quality and price. the price was higher for a page print, mainly because the vendor i was going through printed them on ACTUAL PHOTO PAPER instead of “photo quality” paper or cardstock. i was told that the photo books were printed on photo quality paper which worried me because if people were to look through it it could easily tear. the page print however, would be protected by the page it was adhered to along with the page protector covering it.

i played around with the creative memories storybook creator digital scrapbooking software to see how i would like it. i upgraded to the storybook creator plus and created my first two digital scrapbooking pages and was quickly SOLD! although i still have tons of papers and stickers for the traditional way, i will likely do a mixture of both since i can’t completely tear myself away from the old school way!

now i have no excuses…doing it this way could potentially keep me current on my projects!!! :)

  • holiday stamp-a-stack 2007

i was finally able to schedule my 2007 holiday stamp-a-stack. i was running out of time and had promised a few close friends that i would hold one. for those that don’t know what that is…it is a workshop where participants create handmade holiday cards with supplies that i prepare ahead of time. they have a choice of a few card designs and indicate which they would like to make. i then pre-cut all the paper and when the guests arrive they just stamp and put together everything, following a card sample. normally i hold this class in the garage but this day was particularly chilly…brrr!

this year, i offered 6 different designs, most with embossing. i had fun with my sunday class as it consisted of 3 of my closest friends. i called it my “NA card class” as my friends anNa, roNa and roweNa were the attendees. :) anna was a regular at my workshops, rona was on her way to becoming a semi-regular and rowena was brand new at the whole thing! this class was perfect for all 3 levels and we ended up having a great time! their favorite cardmaking technique?…HEAT EMBOSSING…they just LOVE to see that “cool ink changing effect”.

meeting with these 3 whether separate or together is always a time full of laughter…it was no surprise that the time flew and actually went into way overtime which i rarely do. in the end i think everyone was happy with their creations and i look forward to having them all be regulars in 2008! :)
